Our Confession

Below is our basic Statement of Faith. In addition to this, we are in substantial agreement with both the NAB Statement of Faith, the Baptist Faith and Message 2000, and The New Hampshire Confession of Faith (1833).

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life.  (Matt. 5:18; 2 Tim. 3:15-17; Heb. 4:12; 2 Pet. 1:20-21; 2 Tim. 1:13; Ps. 119:105,160; Prov. 30:5)

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; Is. 45:5-7; Mat. 28:19; 1 Cor. 8:4; 2 Cor. 13:14)

We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. (Is. 7:14; Lk. 1:30-35; 1 Cor. 15:3-8; Phil. 2:5-6; Col. 2:9)

We believe that man was created in the image of God; that he sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also that spiritual death that is separation from God; that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and therefore are sinners in thought, word and deed. (Gen 1:26-28; Ps. 8:3-6, 51:5; Rom. 3:23, 5:12; Is. 53:6, 59:1-2)

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins, according to the Scriptures, as a representative and a substitutionary sacrifice and that all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood. (Jn. 14:6; Rom. 5:1, 6:23; Gal. 3:26; Eph 2:8-9; 1 Pet. 2:24)

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate. (Matt 28:1-10; Acts 1:9-11; Rom. 1:3-4; Heb 4:14-16)

We believe in the sudden, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ and in His Kingdom. (Jn. 14:18; 1 Thes. 4:13-18; 2 Tim. 4:1, 8)

We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God. (Jn. 3:16-18, Rom. 8:16-17; Gal. 4:28; 1 Jn. 3:1-2)

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the eternal blessedness of the saved, and the eternal punishment of the lost. (Matt. 10:28; Mark 9:43-48; Rom. 6:23; Rev. 20:15)

We believe that baptism is the immersion of a believer, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit in testimony of faith in the crucified, buried and risen Christ, and in confession that the believer is to be dead to sin and risen to newness of life in Christ Jesus; and that the Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of the Lord’s death “till He comes.” (Matt. 28:19; Lk 22:19-20; Acts 2:38, 8:12, 10:47-48; 1 Cor. 11:23-26)

Our Covenant
Below is our church covenant. This statement is an expression of how God's Word calls each believer to live in community.

We commit to seeking Jesus Christ as our highest joy by…

  • Remembering that we are created for Him. (Is. 43:7; Eph. 2:10; 1 Cor. 10:31)
  • Seeking, by divine aid, to live carefully in the world, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts (Titus 2:12), since we have been buried with Christ in baptism and raised to walk in the newness of life. (Rom. 6:4)
  • Endeavoring to bring up such as may at any time be under our care, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph 6:4), and by a pure and loving example seek the salvation of our family and friends.

We commit to building up the local body of Christ by…

  • Working and praying for the unity of the spirit in the bond of peace. (Eph 4:3; Jn. 17:22)
  • Walking together in brotherly love (Rom. 12:10) as becomes the members of a Christian church. Exercising an affectionate care and watchfulness over each other and faithfully admonishing and entreating one another as occasion may require. (I Thess. 5:14)
  • Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together (Heb. 10:25), nor neglecting to pray for ourselves and others. (Js. 5:16)
  • Rejoicing at each other’s happiness (Rom. 12:15) and endeavoring with tenderness and sympathy to bear each other’s burdens and sorrows. (Gal. 6:2)

We commit to serving the church as a picture of the Gospel to the world by...

  • Working together for the continuance of a faithful evangelical ministry in this church, sustaining its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines. (Eph 4:12)
  • Contributing cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel to all nations. (2 Cor. 9:7)
  • Seeking, if we move from this place, to unite to unite with another Gospel church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.
